so obviously you all know that Indianapolis Colts’ head coach Jim Caldwell was fired yesterday. i’m sure there’s like 50% of you that either aren’t surprised at all or are happy…or both. I just might fall into that category… I mean, you have to give Caldwell a little credit for taking his team to the Super Bowl (which they lost to the New Orleans Saints) in just his first year as a head coach. His second season he led his team to the playoffs yet again (where they lost to the New York Jets), and it was only this season where he fell off the ledge a bit. i’m sure you’re well aware of the Colts finishing with the worst record in the NFL this past season (leaving them with the first pick of the 2012 draft)

now, my personal opinion is that the whole Colts’ staff should have been preparing for something like what happened this season with Peyton Manning being injured and unable to play for the whole season. if you’re going to build an entire dynasty around one player, you should have a little bit better of a backup plan. Obviously Manning is getting older for football years, and i think a plan should have been in place to prevent such a disastrous season from occuring. i also believe that even Peyton didn’t realize that his injury would be so detrimental until after his final surgery, but even after his first couple surgeries, you would think that the coaching staff would begin to plan something just in case he wasn’t able to come back. Yes they had Curtis Painter in the wings, but showing by his performance record on the field, it doesn’t seem that he had enough practice with the starting receivers…or is that just me?

anyway, i think all of this firing (both the Polians, Caldwell, and weirdly enough Caldwell fired the special teams coordinator before he was fired) could mean some more to the team as a whole. If Peyton Manning is working on coming back to play, how is he going to feel playing without Bill Polian, Jim Caldwell, and Tom Moore (his former offensive coordinator). If he comes back, he’ll be (most likely) mentoring rookie quarterback Andrew Luck as he tries to prepare Luck for life as a starting quarterback in the NFL while trying to adjust to a completely new coaching and management staff behind him. I think all of this change might add to Manning’s decision about next season. But that’s just my opinion. Unfortunately, i think that if Manning leaves, a handful of other veteran players will use it as an opportunity for them to retire too. They don’t want to be playing with a completely different quarterback, GM, head coach, and possibly other new coaches when they’re getting high into their football ages, too. Lots of these players have been facing injuries for the past couple of seasons as well. For example, Ryan Diem is a free agent in 2012, so I can see him retiring since he’s been playing since 2001.

Another problem that arises is having enough money to pay all of our star players. Paying for Peyton Manning (the highest paid player in the NFL as of last season), the first pick of the draft, and our veteran receivers could be difficult. Reggie Wayne is a free agent in 2012 as well, raising the question of will he stay in Indianapolis or will he go somewhere that might pay him more?

All of these things are just my opinions so i’m not quoting anyone or anything, just my thoughts. I don’t feel like getting into the playoff games for this huge weekend, I’ll post about those on Friday or Saturday!

so its wednesday night, and i’m just now posting about the Wildcard Weekend….woops. things have been a little hectic, but i straightened my priorities (aka posting tonight!) okay so I didn’t share these picks with the rest of the Internet world but I did share them with most of my friends and family so they know i’m not lying when I say that I picked 3 our of the 4 games this past weekend correctly. yay! the only game i didn’t call was the Steelers/Broncos game. Sorry guys, i’m not a hardcore Tebow fanatic. to be honest, i liked him more before there was all this obnoxious hype around him. did you know he set a record for most tweets per second during a sporting event? it was something like 9000…that’s crazy! i know my twitter feed was blowing up with his name…hence the getting annoyed thing. one more quick thing. has anyone else noticed that Tebow threw for 316 yards last week? yeah, well i bet you didn’t make the connection of John 3:16 and 316 yards. crazy, right?

alright moving on from my rant…in case you still cared about the Colts like I do, they hired a new GM (Ryan Grigson) only like a week and a half after Irsay announced that the Polians had been fired. Grigson has previously worked for the Philadelphia Eagles and is pretty young in terms of what you would typically think of someone in that position being (or is that just me?). On the news tonight they said that Grigson gets to decide if they’re going to keep Caldwell and that right now its looking to be 50-50. :O uh-oh!

okay so on a scale of 1-10 i think people being surprised by the Saints win is like a 1…at least for me. I wasn’t expecting the Lions to be able to pull out a win over the ridiculous Drew Brees. (although making it to the playoffs at all is a big deal for them, lately) But really, Brees is like unstoppable lately. personally, i’m rooting for the 49ers this weekend because since they embarrassed both the Colts and the Giants this season, plus i’m still spiteful about Super Bowl XLIV…but that’s beside the point. I’m hoping my initial prediction of the Ravens winning the AFC stays in tact this weekend against the Texans (i honestly think it will). No offense to Houston because all power to you for making the playoffs for the first time EVER, but you’re playing with a 3rd string rookie quarterback against one of the best defenses in the league. good luck.

as for the Patriots and the Broncos, I honestly don’t know. Lately it seems that Tim Tebow is capable of absolutely anything, so beating Tom Brady could happen. Especially because the Pats don’t have the greatest defense, and Tebow and his team just beat out another powerhouse defense. now, i was going to skip right over the Giants/Packers game because I don’t want to be biased or anything. Obviously we all know who I’m rooting for…the way i see it is that the Giants came incredibly close to beating the then unbeaten Packers and lost only by a field goal in the last few seconds of the game. then a couple weeks later, still unbeaten Green Bay lost to the Kansas City Chiefs which was a huge boost to the Chiefs and interim-turned-head-coach Romeo Crennel and a huge blow to the Packers. One more thing, if you watch any sort of sports analyist show on ESPN or NFL Network or anything like that, most of them say that New York looks a bit like they did in 2007 when they won the Super Bowl…beating Green Bay in the NFC Championship IN Green Bay. Deja vu, anyone?

only 3 days until Divisional Weekend starts!

i would just like to let everyone know that i wrote this post and it got deleted so now i’m writing it again and i am not a happy camper. anyway, i should be doing actual work, but i would rather be doing this (even the second time).

so, after this final week of the regular season, i’m actually quite happy. the New York Giants made it to the playoffs after crushing the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday night (i’m sure you saw). Also, the Colts lost! Yay! that means they secure the first pick of the 2012 draft. ahem…Andrew Luck…ahem. in addition to that Jim Irsay fired Bill and Chris Polian (Chairman and GM of the team). As I intently watched the press conference held by him yesterday, he made it seem like Jim Caldwell’s future is uncertain, too. He said things like Caldwell was “under evaluation”…sort of beating around the bush if you ask me. and after the Giants game on Sunday night, all i have to say is that Victor Cruz should have made the Pro Bowl! what a snub. aaaand people need to take them as a serious playoff threat now! right? right.

As the playoffs go, the seeds seem very interesting to me. The fact that the Denver Broncos have a better ranking than the Pittsburgh Steelers is so crazy. I guess thats what makes the NFL so much fun. The Steelers won 4 more games than Denver did, but they are 5th and the Broncos are 4th. that would probably be because the AFC North has more winning teams (Baltimore actually won the division, earning them the #2 seed) and the winning-est record in the AFC West was 8-8. Honestly? I don’t like to make predictions on winners and losers (mostly because I dont like to be wrong…seriously) but for some reason I have this feeling about Baltimore going all the way..or at least to the Super Bowl, not necessarily winning. Don’t judge! and don’t hold me to that, either! i’m just making a guess…

now for the NFC… i have no clue! is it just me or is this the first time in a while that they have all the powerhouse teams? I mean between the Saints, Packers & 49ers it seems that they have more talent…or at least winning records than the AFC… again, don’t hold me to that. just my opinion! okay, now that i’ve procrastinated twice as long i should probably do something more prouctive.

look at the brightside: you only have to wait until Saturday for Playoff action! Plus there’s been Bowl Games this week to give you your dosage of football action (:

so i feel as if this calls for a super fast late night post because i need to express my anger with the Colts coaching staff right now. i dont understand what would make them think that winning tonight would be good for our team! now were tied with Minnesota and St. Louis with 2 wins, and i am pretty sure that neither of them have a shot at winning this weekend…lets be honest. The Rams will not be beating Pittsburgh, even if Roethlisberger doesn’t play. I mean, maybeeee the Vikings can beat Washington, but probably not.

do people not understand that even if Peyton comes back, its not going to be for a long time because he’s old for football years anyway? We neeeeed Andrew Luck on our team next year, and if we dont get that first draft pick, I really dont think its going to happen. Minnesota could definitely use a new rookie stud quarterback, so obviously they’re going to take it if they get the chance!

don’t get me wrong, i am a true blue Colts fan all the way through and through, and never have i hoped my team would lose, but tonight i am so sad that we won. for every Colts fan that is celebrating this win tonight, just know that in the end this could come back to haunt us. neeevveerrr accuse me of being untrue to them, i just want everyone to know what’s really going on from this one simple win.

gooood night everyone (:

well, unless you live under a rock…i’m sure you’ve heard that the Indianapolis Colts are no longer winless, and the Green Bay Packers are no longer undefeated. yeppp, week 15 and it finally happened. thanks to the Tennessee Titans and the Kansas City Chiefs, that is. who would’ve thought? If you go 13-0 and you’re going to lose in your undefeated season, it would probably sting a little less if you loss to a team with an over .500 record. before yesterday, KC was only 5-8…that’s a litttleee embarrassing if you ask me. you could’ve won to a decent team like New York (; i would’ve enjoyed that even more.

now onto the Colts’ first win…i’m happy were not going to go 0-16, not that i thought they would, honestly. we have way too much talent on our team to not win any games, no matter how much of a hot mess we look like this season. what sucks for the Titans, is before this week, their playoff hopes were still alive. they probably looked at the schedule and said, “Yeah, we’ll roll over them, they’re 0 and whatever…” rouuugghh isn’t it? okay, so if the Colts are smart, they will be totally okay if they lose the last 2 games. in fact, that would almost be best. St. Louis and Minnesota are both within one game of us, and I would really appreciate if we got the first draft pick of 2012…aka Andrew Luck (hopefully). Whether Peyton comes back or not, i would love to see him in a blue and white jersey.

I listened to a really interesting segment on Sunday Night Football last night, where they talked about how Aaron Rodgers sat behind Brett Favre for like 3 years I think, and when Favre left, Rodgers got to come into the spotlight. and look where he is now. SB45 winners and they went 13-0 this season…that’s pretty good if you ask me. I think we should draft Luck, and if Peyton comes back, its only going to be for a few years because he’s getting older in football years anyway. Peyton works as like a mentor for Andrew, Andrew learns the team’s playbook, and when Peyton retires, we’re set. (: that’s my plan.

As of right now, there are 4 teams that have already clinched their division. 2 in the AFC, 2 in the NFC. The Pats (shocker), the Texans, the Packers, and the 49ers. Houston finally lost their playoff virginity this season. yeah, they’ve never made it to the playoffs in franchise history. i found that pretty interesting. No one was surprised that Green Bay clinched their division, of course. I’m happily surprised with San Francisco actually. they’ve been bad for quite a while, its nice to see a new team in the playoffs.

so, that’s all i really care about this week (: playoffs will be here before we know it!

well…its 0-12. i would have neeverrrr guessed that the Indianapolis Colts would be the only team in the league in week 13 that has yet to win a game. i mean granted, people were saying the Patriots were going to beat us by 21 points, and we were able to close the gap to 7…it was still a loss. the one good thing I see is that we’ll most likely get the first round draft pick in 2012 which BETTER be Andrew Luck. I just don’t get it…obviously the team knew Peyton was aging as a player, why didn’t they plan this a little better? They should have tried to train Curtis to be a liitttle more…er…talented? i know that sounds so mean, but come on you know its true.

so how about orlovsky? i’ve been wanting them to put him in since like week 7. the fact that curtis painter gets us super close to coming back and then throws a game-ending interception really kills me. i tend to get really worked up during football games so when it comes down to the wire like that and we still lose, i get a little upset. just a little….

aaaaand that brings me to the Giants/Packers game yesterday. note to self: never watch that game with a family of all-around Wisconsin people. It was seriously torture. The game was sooo good, and Eli was pretty consistent the entire game. what killed me was at the end after it was tied and it could have gone to overtime, the defense just stopped trying. or something along those lines. i don’t really know what happened, all i know is the Packers are now 12-0 and the Giants have dropped all the way to 6-6. thats not okay with me. i guess they have to follow their December trend of always losing in the second half of the season. most unfortunately…

‘i think the one good thing that came out of this week was that Dallas lost yesterday, which is incredibly helpful for the Giants. If New York can beat the Cowboys next week and when the play the second time i think in january, they might actually win the division. MIGHT. im thinking very optimistically right now. it helps that Detroit & Chicago (the 2 teams in the wildcard slots right now) both lost yesterday, and now that the Bears don’t have Cutler or Forte, we might be able to take their slot…? maybe….

and i’ll close with one more thing….Tebow (: once again pulling out a win in the last seconds of the game. craaaazyyy. Denver is now tied with Oakland at the top of the AFC West. How did that happen? Oh, and how can we forget about San Francisco? they already clinched the NFC West and December just started. I feel like we tend to forget about those teams all the way in the West sometimes.

wow that was alot…alright everyone enjoy their week! maybe week 14 will be the lucky week for the Colts…or maybe not i dont even know anymore!!

i know, i know, its been way too long since my last post. buttt cut me some slack. i have a life people! (: my goal is to start posting every week again like i used to. now…my mood when it comes to football is a little depressed today. i hate when both of my teams lose! I mean obviously i’m used to the Colts losing, but the Giants were on such a good run! Beating the Patriots is a pretty big deal in my book…

now…to the Colts. they’re 0-10. ohmygosh. thats so bad. honestly, we look like the bad news bears this year. i don’t understand why everything is going wrong! its so sad to me; i’m not used to cheering for a bad team. ever since i’ve been old enough to enjoy football, they’ve been relatively good. never this bad. i feel like my high school’s football team could beat the Colts this season! that’s saying something, people. i just don’t get it. who knew one player could make such a catastrophic difference to a team. and unfortunately, more and more people are starting to say that they doubt Peyton will ever play again. and unfortunately…i agree with them

ANDREW LUCK!!!! (:

alright…lets talk about how the 49ers are 8-1, and no one seems to know. (or is that just me?) unfortunately, their latest win was over my Giants today, but it was still a close game. New York‘s still on top of the NFC East though…

how about this: there were 4 games today where the point margin was 24 points or more. that’s crazy!

Titans 30, Panthers 3

Cowboys 44, Bills 7

Texans 37, Bucs 9

Bears 37, Lions 13
and who knows what monday night’s game will bring when the Pack plays Minnesota. uh oh…

well, i think i’ll just run through the teams that are on top of their division

AFC East
Well, this division just gets complicated because the Patriots and Jets are both 5-3, and they play tonight. And then the Bills are 5-4, but they beat the Pats. So whoever wins tonight gets the lead in the division!

AFC North
Baltimore is currently in first because they beat Pittsburgh last week. This division is crazy too. The Ravens, Steelers, and Bengals are all neck in neck. When’s the last time that’s happened? That rookie Andy Dalton is quite the stud…

AFC West
Oakland Raiders….whaaaa?! I know, crazy. They’re only 1 game ahead, but they’re actually in the lead. Go Carson Palmer!

AFC South
Houston…somehow they jumped 2 games ahead of Tennessee. that’s all that really needs to be said here. just….no….

NFC East
Giants!!! Even though they lost today, they’re still 1 game ahead of the Cowboys (:

NFC North
Green Bay. Obviously.

NFC South
New Orleans…grrr. they won by a field goal in overtimee today against the Falcons.

NFC West
San Francisco by faaar. The closest team to them is still 4 games away (Arizona) that’s just embarrassing for the other teams in that division…

k enjoy SNF!

0-5….for the first time since 1997. the Indianapolis Colts are winless. this is one streak that I actually want to end. i’m like seriously depressed…i guess they’re kind of stepping up their game. Curtis Painter played well once again (he’s no Peyton), but it still wasn’t enough to pull out a win when they held a 17-point lead at one point! I think that’s what makes me so sad. We were soooo close. and we lost to a 1-3 team. sad day! I don’t know what the Chiefs head coach said to his players at halftime, but when they came out for the third quarter they were a completely different team. not a fan!

plus it seems that the injury bug is plaguing us once again! it seemed like last year nearly all of our a-team starters were out (which they pretty much were), but its slowly starting to happen again and i DONT like it! Gary Brackett and Melvin Bullit are both on IR (Melvin for the second season in a row), Joseph Addai’s condition is still questionable (and they signed n RB up from the practice squad this week, raising speculation that Addai won’t be playing this week), and obviously Peyton Manning is out (yet no one seems to know how much damage his surgeries will have on his future..will it be this season he’s out? or forever? i don’t even want to think about that.) on the track we’re heading it down it seems pretty doable that we could get a super early draft pick (leading people to urge the Colts to consider picking up Stanford QB Andrew Luck)

well. lets move on to the teams with positive streaks. like the Detroit Lions. They haven’t been 5-0 in nearly 50 years. 50 years!!!!! That is so long! I’m actually really excited for them. They whupped the Bears on Monday (which I enjoyed), and it seems they’re continuing down the right track. for the first time in a very long time, the Lions game on Thanksgiving Day will be a great one to watch. Lions vs. Packers. Division rivals and, as of right now, both undefeated teams. At least the Packers are carrying on their World Champion title well this season (so far).

I think that’s sufficient for this week…fingers crossed that the Colts actually get a win this week?

Yes please!

could peyton manning really return during this year’s regular season? Jim Irsay said its possible! butttt only for practice definitely not as a starter. Raise your hand if you’re a currently depressed Colts fan! (My hand is waaay up.) Seriously though, at least last night we stood our ground a little bit. We almost beat the Pittsburgh Steelers; after losing to the Cleveland Browns, that’s a pretty big milestone. Unfortunately, I have to put emphasis on the word almost. We didn’t win, we almost did. But we came a lot closer than we have so far this season. We’re making progress! Curtis Painter played last night (thanks to Kerry Collins’ concussion), and he didn’t do too bad. Go Curtis! I don’t know about you though, but I really miss Melvin Bullitt and Gary Brackett… sad day.

on a much brighter note…the Patriots were beat by the Bills! HA! they blew a 21 point lead…sucks, doesn’t it? i mean i know I don’t have too much gloating room, but it just makes me smile when they lose (: now the Bills are 3-0! Woo! Better luck next week, Tom. Try not to throw so many interceptions! (;

I’m also excited to say that the Giants pulled out a big win against the Eagles on Sunday. That was definitely a good game. Lots of trash talking (i enjoy watching those kinds of games…). It got pretty dirty. The Giants still aren’t on top of their division, and even if the Redskins get beat by the Cowboys tonight, they still won’t be because they lost to Washington in Week 1. Lots of divisional games and rivalries going on in the NFC East…yay!

And here are some fun lists to end the post (:

Teams without any losses:

Buffalo Bills

Green Bay Packers

Detroit Lions

^^Interesting…the Lions?! Crazy stuff…

Teams without any wins….

Miami Dolphins

Indianapolis Colts

Kansas City Chiefs

Minnesota Vikings

St. Louis Rams

Alright now I’m depressed….hope everyone enjoys MNF tonight!

so….i guess me trying to reassure everyone that the Colts can still be sucessful without Peyton Manning is null and void now. I really did think we would be fine! and oh yeah, my last post said that there were rumors about Peyton having a third surgery, obviously we all know those are true now. and kerry collins? oh do notttt get me started on him right now. I actually had a little bit of faith in him, but after the horrific game today? notttt so much. seriously. our recievers didn’t play all that fabulously, but i think they would’ve played a litle bit better if it wasn’t Kerry Collins! For real, i felt like every time I looked away from the tv and then looked back, he was throwing it away. what is that?! ugh. i’m seriously so angry. if the whole season is like this, its gonna be a loooonggg season.

i guess my little light at the end of the tunnel is that the Giants game is going pretty well…for the most part i mean. they’re staying in the game despite losing a ton of their A-list players from last season…unfortunately Eli Manning is still as inconsistent as he was last year (i.e. an even mix of sacks/interceptions and good passes/touchdowns)

so you know how i was looking forward to the Steelers/Ravens game? yeah…about that….their game was almost as pathetic as the Colts’ game. Pittsburgh had like a gazillion turnovers! honestly, the Ravens sorta rocked it today…that makes me even more nervous for when the Peyton-less Colts play them in December. ugh!

The Titans and the Jaguars look like they’re going to be a threat to the Colts this season. Then again, it looks like every team is going to be a threat to them now i’m seriously so depressed about this!! (sidenote….when the team ran off the field after losing they all looked so frustrated and i’m with them!) anyway. this was a really close game, and honestly? I thought the Texans were going to be worse than both of these teams, but if they’re half as good as the Texans seemed to be today…..ohhhh i don’t want to think about that

well to end it…i’m seriously so excited to see the Patriots play tonight….let’s see what you’re made of boys!!

hope you all had a fabulous opening weekend….and God bless all those affected by 9/11 <3
